Buy it, if you need a Small Practical second device.
I bought my first portable computer in 1996 for ,000US (a Dell laptop with Intel P1-250MHz), then a second one in 2002 for ,500US (a Dell inspiron laptop P4-2000MHz/512-ram), and now this is my third portable computer an Acer Aspire One AOP 531H with Intel Atom N270 (1,600MHz), 1Gb Ram, 160GB HDD, an integrated webcam, Bluetooth and WiFi for only 0US –> WoW!
This is a great computer if you already have a desktop at home and just need something for on the go. It is very small and lightweight, which is great if you are like me and have to carry around an already heavy backpack all the time. The keyboard is pretty similar in feel to a normal keyboard compared to other netbooks that I have used. The only real downsides are the performance capabilities and the lack of CD/DVD drive, but there are plenty of ways around both of those if you have another computer. I recommend this computer to anyone who wants a small companion computer
I can’t say enough about how good this little netbook is. I have found nothing to complain about. It has been on for two months now and has no problems at all. The wifi card is excellent. It picks up signals that my full sized laptop can’t.
Click the F11 key to go full screen when you are using your browser and you will have plenty of screen space. I have also used this with a second monitor, set up to be my primary, and it works flawlessly.

” The Acer Aspire One 8.9″ is a tiny but yet powerful computer. Running Windows XP Home Edition, the netbook provides all the services and convenience of a full dimension laptop packed into the size of a large book. The screen is tiny and the keyboard cramp, but if you need a full service computer for a briefcase or handbag, this guy is it. Even the built in web-cam works flawlessly. I decided on the glossy-black unit but be warned it’s a fingerprint magnet. As for the screen, expect to squint a bit when reading small text- but hey it’s the size that matters…
